Fernhill house, Queenstown

A steep site with fantastic lake views to the Southeastwas acquired by a couple who required a family home and a self contained unit.

The house split levels follows the contours in order to create an open living/ kitchen / dining.

External areas are placed on the sunny side as a continuation from the house internal areas.

The dwelling outline tapers toward the northwest in order to allow more sun in the building by the diagonal wall facing North. The opposite Southwest wall cranks allowing both rooms lake views and sunshine complemented by skylights.

The self contained unit sits on the basement accessed by an internal stairwell that could be closed depending on the demand and has its own external area.
