Four bedroom sea side Villa renovation/ extension in Sumner, Christchurch. Client brief was to create an entry to their house by enclosing the existing porch, creating a gear room for surfboards , split the existing ensuite in two ensuite and finally  to create a barbecue/ outside dining initially though to be on the side boundary  in order to use the house as a wind shelter to the predominant winds. After achieving the concept design as per clients brief Fernandes Architects proposed to move the outside dining/ barbecue to the front of the house, where a proposed elevated deck would allow views to the sea and while being in level with the lounge/ dining/ living would act as a transitional area between inside and outside. A glass shelter has been created to protect the area from the wind and opening louvres protect from the sun and rain. Project has been concluded within established timeframe and clients have now a new house for their preferred lifestyle making the most of the prime site location.
